Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) is a private, member-owned electric utility organized in 1935 and based in Anamosa, Iowa. It serves more than 13,000 members across Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones counties, along with portions of five neighboring counties. The cooperative has invested in smart grid technology to improve service reliability and has built a high-speed fiber network intended to connect directly to members’ homes and businesses. Today the MVlink fiber initiative covers more than 2,200 miles of fiber, with about 5,000 members connected to service offering up to 1 gigabit per second symmetrically. MVEC aims to provide reliable electric service at a low cost while expanding rural connectivity, operating as an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender. In 2018, MVEC participated in a real estate transaction with Powermovingforward concerning its headquarters property.
