Maritime Museum of San Diego is a mid-sized nonprofit institution in San Diego, California, dedicated to preserving and presenting seafaring history through an active fleet of historic vessels. Its centerpiece is Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship, alongside other historic ships that are maintained and operated for public viewing. The museum conducts daily dockside tours and offers on-the-water experiences, including 45-minute bay trips on a 1914 pilot boat and weekend sails on the PCF 816 Swift, Californian, and San Salvador. Docent-led tours, private charters, and event venues aboard the vessels also form part of its offerings. Located along the north Embarcadero of downtown San Diego, the institution emphasizes preservation and education of the region’s seafaring heritage. In 2026 it announced a Triad Discount Ticket program with the USS Midway Museum and Navy SEAL Museum San Diego to provide reciprocal admission discounts for visitors.
