The Maryland Energy Innovation Accelerator (MEIA) operates a cohort-based, virtual program designed to accelerate the commercialization of early-stage clean energy technologies. As an initiative of the Maryland Clean Energy Center, MEIA collaborates with Maryland-based universities and labs to advance technology commercialization in support of the state's clean energy and climate goals. The program supports a range of early-stage technologies that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or provide negative emissions benefits, applicable across electric, oil and gas, residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. MEIA is based in College Park, Maryland, and sits within the renewable energy technology ecosystem as a conduit between academia and early-stage ventures. The organization operates with a small to mid-sized team and partners with regional universities, laboratories, and state entities to move technologies toward market readiness. A notable recent development is the October 2025 launch of the Investment Readiness Program, a collaboration with the Maryland Department of Commerce to support investability for participating startups.
