MathAction is a nonprofit with a bold mission: to empower the next generation to use math as a tool to understand – and seek solutions for – the most pressing global issues of our time. By blending the precision of mathematics with the ambiguities of social issues, young people learn to use mathematics in context: to investigate real-world issues, communicate ideas and inform their actions. Interdisciplinary math investigations include: - measuring human rights - population dynamics - the refugee crisis We work with schools and NGO partners to engage young people in thinking critically about their world - using math as a tool for deepen understanding while also growing their compassion and global citizenship. While 2 out of 3 middle and high schoolers are not succeeding in math, we believe that a new approach is needed. MathAction is a pioneer in the field.
