McGill’s Bus Group is the UK’s largest independently owned bus company, proudly family-owned since 1933. With more than 1,800 employees and depots in 10 locations, we operate a diverse network of services across Scotland’s Central Belt, Dundee, Aberdeen, and Inverness under the McGill’s, Midland Bluebird, Xplore Dundee, and Bright Bus brands.

Our operations include city and rural bus services, intercity coach travel, including strategic partnership routes with global operator FlixBus, open-top city tours, day trips, and private hire services that operate as far as London. In 2025, Bright Bus Tours launched a new chapter, partnering with global sightseeing brand Big Bus Tours, making Edinburgh the 28th city in their international portfolio. 

As a business, we are committed to delivering high-quality, customer-focused transport while driving innovation in the industry. With over 150 zero-emission electric buses in our growing fleet, we are playing a key role in Scotland’s transition to greener public transport.

Following significant expansion in recent years, including the acquisitions of Xplore Dundee in 2020 and First Scotland East and Bright Bus in 2022, McGill’s has trebled in size and continues to invest heavily in people, technology, and sustainability. Our in-house training academies in Johnstone, Dundee, and Falkirk are central to our commitment to staff development.
