Medical Banking Rx (MBRx) is a recipient of the HIMSS Medical Banking Project “Disruptive Innovator” Award (best potential to transform healthcare using disruptive innovation) and it has two patent-pending processes, available for licensure to PBMs, that prevent pharmacies from unilaterally circumventing the adjudication process in all 100% copay situations (High Deductible Health Plans, including Consumer Driven Health Plans and cash discount card markets) thereby avoiding the six problems experienced when claim adjudication is circumvented:

1. MBRx MedConfirmation(SM) enables patients to verify claim transactions have been adjudicated and audit claim transactions in real-time to ensure the price quoted by pharmacies to patients are the same as the adjudicated price pharmacies receive from the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM); as well as providing the option to notify patients that claim transactions have been reversed/voided thus enabling patients to determine if pharmacies’ reversal actions are acceptable and if not, take appropriate action.

2. MBRx Patient Driven Rx(SM) enables the PBM to initiate patient payments to pharmacies in real-time as an automated and integrated component of their claims’ adjudication process with corresponding real-time e-receipt notifications, and with real-time payment reversal e-receipts when claims are reversed, thereby precluding the circumvention of claim adjudication.
