Everybody deserves to enjoy food. We build on the potential of potatoes and people to develop new potato varieties that add value for all parties in the value chain. Our varieties perform better in changing circumstances and contribute to better availability and more enjoyment for everybody. We develop and market high value potatoes that make a difference to people around the world. Our story starts with Kees Meijer Sr when he became a potato trader, more than 100 years ago, in 1920. He wanted to give his family and himself a better life. His entrepreneurial spirit and focus on the potential of potatoes were essential for his success and still form the foundation of Meijer Potato. Building on potential Kees Sr started as a trader. When his son Henk joined the business, he added an international, customer-oriented approach with which he further developed the company. Later, his grandson Kees Jr also joined the family company. He became the driving force behind the expansion of the company into a potato chain. Today, the fourth generation of the Meijer family has joined the company. Meijer management and former and current staff contributed to the company’s entrepreneurial spirit by expressing their own talent and vision in their work. In this way, we both utilize and nourish people’s potential. Our people built a solid base for Meijer Potato. The history nourishes our faith in the potato, in its potential as food and as a source of economic value and welfare. We have a great deal of trust in our people who fulfill that potential.
