The Metal Museum is the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the art and craft of fine metalwork. This is achieved through exhibitions, collections, studio practice, and community education and engagement. The Museum is located on 3.2 acres of historic property overlooking the Mississippi River. Our campus includes a Blacksmith Shop, Foundry, Library + Resource Center, and private artist residences. Metalworking demonstrations take place on most weekends. The Permanent Collection contains over 3,000 objects and represents a broad spectrum of metalwork, including contemporary hollowware, sculpture, and studio jewelry created by artist metalsmiths, as well as historic objects dating back to the Renaissance. Rotating exhibitions of contemporary metalwork are held in the main gallery spaces.
