Miami City Ballet is an American ballet company based in Miami Beach, Florida, with a listed address at 2200 Liberty Avenue, Miami, FL 33139, United States. Founded in 1985 by philanthropist Toby Lerner Ansin, with former New York City Ballet principal Edward Villella as founding artistic director, the company is currently led by artistic director Gonzalo Garcia. The company maintains an international ensemble of 50 dancers from the United States and multiple other countries and stages an active repertoire of 88 ballets, performing more than 100 times annually across a home season in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. Its North American appearances have included venues such as the Kennedy Center and New York City Center, and it has also performed in Paris and New York, with exposure on PBS Great Performances. Miami City Ballet operates the Miami City Ballet School, serving about 375 students during the school year, with around 200 accepted to the annual Summer Intensive.
