Michigan Audubon is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bird conservation and habitat protection across Michigan. Founded in 1904 and incorporated in 1905, it is the state's oldest conservation group. The organization maintains a network of protected bird sanctuaries spanning from Jackson County to the Keweenaw Peninsula, with habitat protection intended to endure. It coordinates its efforts across the state through 32 local chapters that help connect communities with birds and wildlife. Based in Okemos, Michigan, the organization operates as a nonprofit in the civic and social sector, and in January 2021 it launched the Mi Bird-Friendly Communities program to broaden community engagement.
