The Mission of Mid-South Transplant Foundation is to improve the quality of lives through excellence in the process of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. We were founded in 1976 by Dr. Louis Britt – a transplant surgeon who performed the first kidney transplant here in Memphis in 1970. As an OPO, Mid-South Transplant Foundation (MSTF)’s mission is to advocate for all organ and tissue donors and recipients. Our role is to increase organ and tissue donation in our community and to ensure that the patients who are in most need receive them.
