Founded in 1999, Midwest Thermal-Vac (MTV) is a leading provider of low-pressure vacuum carburizing and heat treating services for the Aerospace, Naval, Military, Motorsports, and Commercial Industries. We achieve ISO 9001:2015 & AS9100 registration, maintaining rigorous AMS2750 standards for controlled, consistent, and repeatable pyrometry procedures, essential for aerospace tolerances. Utilizing patented Infracarb process, we excel in low-pressure vacuum carburizing, carbonitriding, and other case hardening applications under vacuum, leading to reduced distortion and significant savings for clients through less grinding and more usable parts. Beyond vacuum carburizing, MTV offers traditional vacuum heat treating for solution, isothermal, spherodized/full annealing, homogenizing, normalizing, austenitizing, and tempering tool steels. All stainless steel processes are also performed under vacuum. Our goal is to be the "World Class Leader" in vacuum processes. Our metallurgical laboratory, staffed by metallurgists and technicians, ensures we precisely meet and exceed customer quality specifications. With over two decades of experience since 1999, MTV has been at the forefront of low-pressure vacuum carburizing (LPC), a technology that has quadrupled in demand since 2000. LPC offers precise process control, leading to absolute repeatability, optimized microstructure, enhanced mechanical properties, and reduced manufacturing costs. We adhere to strict temperature uniformity (max 10°F spread) crucial for tight case depth control, even in low-temperature cycles. This precision delivers high fracture toughness values, vital for high-performance applications like those in off-road vehicles. LPC also offers superior control over hardness, carbon distribution, and critical properties like residual stress and wear resistance, meeting the demanding performance needs of aircraft and rotorcraft components such as braking systems, landing gearboxes, bearings, and gears.
