The Migration Policy Institute is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit think tank based in Washington, DC, devoted to analyzing international migration and refugee movements. It operates alongside MPI Europe, its sister organization based in Brussels. The institute conducts analysis, development, and evaluation of migration and refugee policies at local, national, and international levels, aiming to provide pragmatic and thoughtful responses to the challenges and opportunities presented by large-scale migration in an increasingly interconnected world. MPI maintains the view that well-designed, actively managed migration benefits immigrants and their families, as well as communities of origin and destination and the sending and receiving countries. Based in Washington, MPI is a mid-sized organization that collaborates with researchers and policymakers across borders to inform policy.
