Located in the beautiful mountains of Northeast Tennessee, Milligan is a premier Christian liberal arts institution with a distinctively different approach to higher education. Since its founding in 1866, Milligan’s mission has been to educate men and women as servant leaders in a variety of careers. Milligan’s 1,200 students come from 35 states and 15 nations, and together they create a close-knit campus community that offers a strong sense of place and purpose. The college actively integrates high quality academic programs with biblical faith and a service-oriented philosophy to prepare students in more than 100 majors, minors, pre-professional degrees and concentrations in a variety of fields, along with graduate and adult degree completion programs. Nearly 100 percent of Milligan graduates are employed or in graduate school within one year of graduation. Frequently recognized for quality and value, Milligan ranks among the best regional universities in the South by U.S. News and World Report and one of Washington Monthly’s top master’s universities in the nation. Milligan also is recognized as a Military Friendly school by Victory Media and as a “Great College to Work For," according to a 2013 survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Milligan is grounded in a tradition of excellence in scholarship, an emphasis on community, and a dependence on faith. These principles are taught in the classroom and are a part of every facet of the Milligan experience—from the professors who model lives of service and learning to the lifelong friendships that form #BuffNation. Students come to Milligan to study, but they become part of something much bigger—a place where they can grow in scholarship, community, and faith.
