The Ministry of Education of New Zealand serves as the government’s lead adviser on the country’s education system, shaping direction for education agencies and providers. Based in Wellington, the department seeks to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes for learners. It provides resources and leadership to communities, schools, teachers, and education providers, manages the school property portfolio, and guides the tertiary sector, while overseeing Crown entities involved in education. Its activities address learners across New Zealand, including interventions for specific student groups. In March 2026, Beamafilm announced a partnership with the ministry to broaden access to an educational streaming series for libraries, educators, researchers, and all New Zealand schools.
