Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) is a private nonprofit higher education institution based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1886, MCAD educates students to become professional artists and designers, as well as innovative thinkers, creative leaders, and engaged global citizens. The college is recognized for its interdisciplinary approach to visual arts education and offers professional certificates, bachelor’s degrees (BFA and BS), and graduate programs. The institution serves roughly 800 students. MCAD maintains a dynamic, inclusive work environment for faculty and staff and provides a comprehensive benefits package. After six months of service, full-time employees and eligible dependents can access tuition benefits, including free tuition at MCAD and reduced tuition at more than 600 colleges nationwide. In 2025, MCAD promoted Dr. Melissa Rands to Vice President of Academic Affairs, effective August 2025.
