MoMA PS1 is a mid-sized nonprofit cultural institution based in Long Island City, New York, dedicated to contemporary art. Founded in 1971 by Alanna Heiss, it ranks among the United States' oldest and largest nonprofit centers focused on contemporary practice, and it has operated as an affiliate of The Museum of Modern Art since 2000. The organization is noted for its distinctive, artist-led approach within a scholarly framework, and for serving as a dynamic public meeting place that fosters new ideas and conversations in art. Its programming serves New York City audiences and extends beyond through traveling exhibitions, a studio program, and publications, guided by professional staff. In July 2025, MoMA PS1 launched its Warm Up series, a development in its public-facing offerings, and it has historically pursued collaborations with other institutions, such as a past partnership with the Brooklyn Museum.
