Mount Tamalpais School is a co-educational day school serving students from Kindergarten through Grade 8, located in Mill Valley, California. The institution emphasizes an active pursuit of knowledge, integrity, and fairness, with a diverse student body and a multidisciplinary, interactive curriculum that moves away from traditional lecture formats. Classes are organized so teachers specialize in single subjects and students rotate through classrooms, a structure designed to keep energy levels high and encourage ongoing engagement with learning. The school maintains an outdoors-rich environment with regular field trips to local cultural and educational venues, and it offers bus service linking the campus to nearby communities, including San Francisco. Founded in 1976, Mount Tamalpais School aims to provide a solid academic foundation while fostering enthusiasm for discovery. The program integrates classrooms and outdoor experiences to broaden the curriculum, and the school accommodates students of all races, religions, national or ethnic origins, ensuring broad access to its programs. Recent developments include a strategic plan launched in 2022 to guide the school's direction, reflecting ongoing organizational planning and community engagement.
