The Museum of the American Railroad is a not-for-profit Texas corporation based in Frisco, dedicated to preserving and interpreting railroad heritage through preservation and research. It collects artifacts and archival material from the railroad industry to illuminate their role in American life and culture, with exhibits and programs offered year-round. Founded in 1963, the institution focuses on locomotives from the steam and diesel-electric eras and on preserving and restoring passenger coaches, including a substantial collection of Pullman cars. The collection was relocated from Fair Park in Dallas to Frisco, and indoor exhibits are presented on the second floor of the Frisco Heritage Museum as the site continues to develop. The museum provides educational opportunities for local schools and universities through study trips, in-class programming, outreach, and online resources. In 2026, the organization launched a new website, expanding access to its resources.
