The Museum of the Moving Image, located in Astoria, New York, is the only U.S. museum dedicated to the art, history, technique, and technology of the moving image across its forms. It serves a diverse audience—from film lovers and scholars to families and gamers—through an interactive core exhibition, international film programs, discussions with industry figures, a distinctive collection, and educational initiatives. Across its scope, it traces moving images from nineteenth-century optical toys to contemporary digital art and considers how production, promotion, and exhibition shape the medium. The museum hosts an active program of screenings, exhibitions, and online projects that engage audiences of all ages. In 2025, a partnership with the Tezos Foundation expanded MoMI’s Herbert S. Schlosser Media Wall into a platform for blockchain-based artistic experimentation.
