The National Aviary operates as America’s only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated exclusively to birds. It is located on Pittsburgh's North Side, in West Park, and features large walk-through habitats that let visitors observe free-flying birds up close. The collection comprises more than 500 birds representing over 150 species from around the world, including many that are threatened or endangered in the wild.
