It is the largest independent educational youth organization in the United States, serving students in grades 4 through 12 through its Elementary, Junior, and Senior Beta divisions. The organization aims to recognize high academic achievement, nurture character, foster leadership, and encourage service within school communities. Its work is organized around four pillars—Achievement, Character, Leadership, and Service.
