National College is a mid-sized higher education institution based in Salem, Virginia, with roots dating to 1886 when Roanoke National Business College was established to provide practical, career-focused training in business and related professions. It expanded beyond Roanoke through a network of community campuses across Southwest Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, broadening curricula to include computers and healthcare and moving from certificate programs to associate degrees and, later, bachelor's degrees. Two affiliated schools—Kentucky College of Business (founded 1941) and Fugazzi College of Business & Technology (founded 1915)—joined the institution, reinforcing its business-focused offering. The college serves students seeking practical, career-oriented education in professional fields, with program pathways that emphasize associate degrees and, in some cases, bachelor's degrees. In 2017, National College closed its Knoxville campus, reflecting a downsizing of its regional footprint.
