The National Consumers League (NCL) is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit advocacy group founded in 1899. It identifies itself as the country's first organized effort to protect and promote the interests of both consumers and workers. It represents consumers on issues arising in the marketplace and the workplace, providing the consumer viewpoint to government bodies, businesses, and other organizations. Its focus areas include child labor, privacy, food safety, and medication information. As a small nonprofit, NCL works with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and civil society to advance consumer rights. In March 2026 it filed suit against Live Nation in a landmark antitrust case.
