The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is a statutory body established by Parliament to lead the development of South Africa's film and video industry. Its mission is to create an environment that develops and promotes the South African film and video industry domestically and internationally, with a vision of a representative, commercially viable sector that supports development and enables SA creative and technical talent to reach the world. The NFVF is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, and employs between 11 and 50 people; it is guided by a council of experienced film professionals. Recent activities include partnerships with government and industry partners to deliver programs such as the National Archives Digitisation Project (PESP Phase 6) in 2026, and collaborations with organizations like DSAC, IFAS, Indigenous Film Distribution, Oudtshoorn Municipality, Big World Cinema, Bertha Foundation, Durban FilmMart Institute, and Central Film School to support training and international initiatives.
