The AIST (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology) is one of Japan's largest public research organizations. AIST is dedicated in fostering innovative research outcomes and advancing their implementation to address societal challenges and enhance industrial competitiveness. AIST, a core of Japan's national innovation system, comprises around 12,000 personnel of researchers, administrative staff, and collaborators from academia and industry, conducting R&D and administrative tasks at 12 research bases nationwide, aligned with the evolving national innovation strategies. In 2023, AIST established AIST Solutions (AiSol) as a business corporation responsible for corporate collaboration and technology transfer. AIST is also actively building global networks by signing memorandums of understanding for comprehensive research cooperation (MOUs) with major research institutes around the world.
