The National Institute of Technology at Tiruchirappalli (NITT), formerly known as Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli (RECT) is a public technical university located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 1964 to cater to the needs of heavy industries set up under the guidance of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, NITT is one of the 20 National Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India. Today, NITT has grown into a technological institute with 10 undergraduate and 23 graduate programs[1]. The institute awards B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees to undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students respectively. Apart from engineering programs, the institute also offers courses in management and architecture.
