The National Rural Water Association (NRWA) functions as the national membership body for rural water and wastewater utilities, operating through its affiliated State Rural Water Associations. It represents more than 31,000 utility members across the country and provides training, technical assistance, and source water protection services to rural and small systems. These activities are supported by Congress and carried out in partnership with agencies including USDA Rural Development, the Farm Service Agency, and the Environmental Protection Agency, with NRWA also representing utilities in regulatory and legislative matters.
