NTN is a professional development organization that provides training, ongoing coaching, and support to mathematics teachers working with students from grade 3 through algebra. It applies a framework called the Seven Levels of Professional Development to help teachers adopt proven methods and deepen student understanding of core math concepts while aligning instruction with the Common Core State Standards. Based in Summerfield, Maryland, NTN partners with district staff from Local Education Agencies to design resilient plans that prioritize integrating the Standards for Mathematical Practice to improve classroom instruction.

NTN’s mission is to raise achievement, confidence, and grades for students who previously performed lower in mathematics by adjusting instructional approaches and examining the rationale behind the materials used in math classrooms across the districts it serves. Ongoing professional development is delivered through training, concept-based lessons, job-embedded coaching, instructional walk-throughs, professional learning communities, technology, and leadership academies, and districts partnering with NTN typically see growth in both teacher practice and emerging math student performance. In November 2023 NTN announced the development of MathKEYmatics, a formative assessment that provides quick assessments, clear data, and next steps for math educators in grades 2-8.
