Nature Sacred is a Maryland-based organization focused on philanthropic fundraising services that help cities expand access to open greenspaces. It supports the creation of Sacred Places in urban settings—from underserved neighborhoods to disaster-impacted communities, prisons, and hospitals—aiming to provide respite, solace, renewal, and renewed civic pride. Over about twenty years, the group has partnered with more than 130 communities nationwide and developed a practical approach to making nature meaningful and accessible.

Nature Sacred is conducting a multi-year research initiative, the Nature Sacred Awards Program, to study how exposure to nature affects mental, physical, and spiritual well-being, with the aim of grounding its work in scientific evidence. Recent developments include launching the BenchTalk journaling event activity kit and the Firesoul Gateway online portal, along with partnerships to advance shared projects such as a community farm vision with Bon Secours St. Francis and a Sacred Groves template with the Arbor Day Foundation, and expanding its network with Washington Parks & People. These efforts reflect a design-informed, community-driven approach to healing and resilience. Based in Annapolis, Maryland, Nature Sacred serves communities nationwide.
