Connecting Kids to Nature We give students the science and tools to take action and be good stewards. As an environmental education nonprofit, Nature Vision brings place-based, experiential nature programming to over 70,000 Pre-K through 12th grade students each year in King and Snohomish Counties. By bringing our programs directly to schools and local greenspaces, we work to ensure that all students receive quality nature connections where they need them the most. What makes our programs so impactful? They are: • aligned with Washington State K-12 learning standards to support students on their STEM education journeys, • integrate the latest scientific information, • anchored in details about local ecosystem for maximal relevancy, • often include environmental stewardship and community science projects, and • help students discover every-day actions they can take in their homes and communities to connect with and preserve nature. The students we serve come from diverse backgrounds: one in three are eligible for free or reduced price meals and one in five are English-language learners. Nature Vision’s programming results in significant student gains in scientific knowledge, including every-day actions students and their communities can take to help our local ecosystems. We are proud to be educating and inspiring a new generation of environmental stewards and community scientists. Nature Vision provides free in-person and remote programming to King and Snohomish County Schools throughout the school year in classrooms and outdoors: https://naturevision.org/free-programs-for-schools. We run the Nature Preschool at Farrel-McWhirter Park in Redmond.
