New Amsterdam Market was a public policy-focused venture operating in New York City that established and managed a series of urban markets dedicated to incubating small businesses, promoting regional and sustainable agriculture, and creating civic-oriented spaces. From 2005 to 2014, the organization evolved from episodic events into a weekly market that attracted a broad audience and drew patrons to the historic Old Fulton Fish Market, aiming to transform a public asset into a community-focused marketplace.
Based in New York, the organization engaged hundreds of local vendors over its lifespan and supported the development of numerous entrepreneurial initiatives, earning recognition from multiple mainstream and local publications. The market operated within the public policy and urban placemaking space, positioning itself as an incubator for small food producers and a catalyst for sustainable, community-oriented commerce in the region.
