The New Brunswick Medical Society is a professional association that represents physicians across New Brunswick. Founded in 1867 and based in Fredericton, it seeks to both represent and serve its members while advocating for the health of New Brunswickers. The society is organized into units that manage physician remuneration, provide member services, analyze policy, and explore innovation in primary care, and it administers the Provincial Electronic Medical Records Program that supports community-based health records for hundreds of thousands of patients. It works with government on physician remuneration and funding allocations, and maintains engagement with physicians and the public on policy issues. In 2025 NBMS hosted a Health Summit in St. Andrews in partnership with the New Brunswick College of Family Physicians, exemplifying its collaborative approach to population health and preventive care.
