The New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs (BEA) is a state government agency focused on strengthening the economy and promoting New Hampshire as a place to live, work, and visit. Established in 2017, BEA functions as a cabinet-level entity that directs policy related to business recruitment, retention, and expansion, workforce development, international commerce, tourism promotion, and broad-based economic development. Its staff connect businesses and manufacturers with programs and services intended to support growth and relocation or expansion within the state, with many offerings provided at no cost. BEA collaborates with federal, regional, local, and private sector partners to deliver licensing, financing, permitting, and workforce training solutions through the Division of Economic Development. The organization is based in Concord, in the central region of New Hampshire and serves a diverse array of clients including firms considering relocation and communities pursuing economic improvements. A recent development includes the launch of RecReady NH to help communities plan and implement outdoor recreation projects that bolster local economies and quality of life.
