NJCASA serves as the primary advocate for sexual assault survivors and their families across New Jersey, coordinating the network of 21 county-based Sexual Violence Programs and the Office of Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance at Rutgers University. Since its founding in 1981, it has focused on informing the public, media, and government about sexual violence issues and developing programs and services to support survivors. Its mission emphasizes compassionate and just treatment, fostering collaboration across community systems, and promoting changes in attitudes and behavior to eliminate sexual violence. The organization provides free and confidential services through the network of programs to all survivors, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability, or financial status. In 2022, NJCASA partnered with Sunflower Strategists to develop its grounding agreement, reflecting ongoing external collaboration, while operating from Lawrenceville, New Jersey as a small to mid-sized nonprofit.
