New Mexico Counties (NMC) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing and serving New Mexico’s 33 counties. NMC works with counties to advance the public’s vital interest in effective, efficient, and responsive local government. NMC’s mission is to work as a united body by representing the interests of all counties to promote effective and efficient county government. As a professional association of county elected officials and employees, NMC has served as a statewide voice for New Mexico’s counties since 1968. NMC supports and promotes the idea that all county elected officials and employees should have the opportunity to work together to solve problems and to advance the interests of county government in New Mexico. The association provides legislative representation, general research, lawsuit coordination, and training and assistance in developing and improving methods of administration and financing of county government. We offer insurance pools covering workers compensation and property, casualty, and liability insurance. Educational programs and conferences assist county officials in carrying out the duties of their office. NMC is an advocate for county government.
