Founded in 1868, the New York State Dental Association (NYSDA) serves as a professional association for dentists in New York State. Based in Albany, it encompasses a large membership and stands among the largest state-level constituents of the American Dental Association. NYSDA provides a formal voice in state government and supports its members through programs spanning legislative advocacy, business development, peer review, a clinical journal, and educational and scientific initiatives. The organization participates in a tripartite structure with a local component society and the American Dental Association, reflecting its place in a broader professional ecosystem. Its staff design and implement programs for the dental profession and the public, and they respond to member inquiries. In 2023, NYSDA partnered with Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company to support an interactive webinar launching the New Dentist Survival Guide series.
