Newhall County Water District traces its roots to 1913 when the Newhall Water System was formed to serve the mostly agricultural needs of the area. On January 13, 1953, an election was held to form the Newhall County Water District, which is owned by the public and run by a five member board of directors elected at large by the voters. The District continues to invest in technology to be more efficient and has opened a new administration building that is one of the "greenest" in the valley.
