Next One Up (NOU) is a Baltimore-based nonprofit providing highly individualized, wrap-around support that empowers underserved young men to become the city’s next generation of leaders. Founded in 2009 by Matt Hanna while he was working as a Baltimore City teacher, the organization has grown from a small, seasonal charity offering young men camperships to a year-round, multi-year program serving over 100 scholar athletes in Baltimore City. 

Today, our students come from neighborhoods all across Baltimore, attending over 45 different middle and high schools in the city. Our adaptive, multi-year programming blends a focus on academics, academics and leadership to infuse out-of-school time with purpose and help young men create a dynamic and concrete vision for their future. The ultimate goal of NOU’s program as a whole, is to arm students with the skills to be successful, self-reliant and socially conscious.
