The Nonprofit Association of Oregon (NAO) functions as the statewide network for Oregon's nonprofit sector, bringing together nonprofit leaders and organizations to strengthen the ecosystem. Based in Portland, the organization draws on more than three decades of capacity-building work with the aim of making nonprofits more visible and valued as essential contributors to society. It supports this through elevating collective achievements and aspirations, expanding leadership capacity and diversity, and facilitating knowledge exchange across the nonprofit sector as well as with public and private partners. The NAO primarily serves Oregon nonprofits and their leaders, providing resources and programming that build organizational capacity and leadership development while fostering cross-sector collaboration. By promoting visibility and legitimacy for the sector and by linking knowledge across sectors, it addresses common challenges nonprofits face in growth and collaboration. A recent development is a partnership with Connect Central Oregon to host the annual Volunteer and Board Fair at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in October 2023.
