Norcold LLC is a manufacturing company that designs and produces specialty refrigerators for the RV and marine sectors, addressing the needs of mobile living environments. It is based in Sidney, Ohio, with origins dating back to its founding in California in 1959, and it relocated operations to Ohio in 1964 to better serve its growing Midwest customer base. In response to a competitor’s acquisition of its primary cooling-unit supplier, Norcold established its own cooling unit manufacturing capability to maintain supply and improve quality.

Since 1997, Norcold has been part of Thetford Corporation, reflecting changes in the market for RV and marine refrigeration. In 2021, Norcold launched the Polar Elite refrigerator, a newer member of its Polar line for RV applications. The company remains focused on manufacturing durable refrigeration solutions for the RV and marine sectors, supported by its in-house cooling-unit production capability.
