Established in 1974, North American Family Institute (NAFI | NFI) is a private, nonprofit human service agency dedicated to providing community-based mental and behavioral health care.  Our wide range of 128 programs empower individuals, families, and communities with diverse needs to maximize their independence and succeed in the future. 

NAFI is the parent company of four regional subsidiaries across eight states: NFI North, NAFI CT | NY | RI, NFI Vermont, and NFI MA, NAFI FL. Separate from the work of our subsidiaries, NAFI runs two programs designed to fulfill special initiatives, Youth & Police Initiative and Homecare Choices.

Our programs are built upon the philosophy that people are capable of meaningful change and that, with a supportive environment, the right tools, and opportunities for growth, every individual can become successful in their own home and community.
