North Light Community Center is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia that provides a safe, nurturing space where children can learn and play and where parents can seek counsel and civic engagement. Its mission is to empower people of all ages and abilities, especially those most in need, to reach their full potential as productive and responsible citizens through programs that support children, teens, and families. The organization operates within the non-profit sector and addresses community needs through education, youth development, and family services. Each year it serves more than 3,000 people in Manayunk and surrounding neighborhoods, with a volunteer network of over 700 people who contribute nearly 10,000 hours. For more than 80 years, North Light has provided safe programs for children and youth and acted as a safety net for families and senior citizens. Programs include a state-licensed childcare facility with year-round school-age options, arts and recreation, tutoring, youth leadership training and workforce development, parenting education, senior and emergency supports, and access to technology.
