North South Foundation is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Burr Ridge, Illinois, focusing on philanthropic fundraising and programs that support human development. Its mission seeks to cultivate excellence and build human resources to improve the lot of people, regardless of religion, sex, caste, or geographic origin. The foundation provides college scholarships to top-ranking students among the poorest in India and runs educational contests in the United States for K-12 students across spelling, vocabulary, math, science, geography, essay writing, public speaking, and Brain Bee. The US contest program operates through about 90 centers and culminates in national finals where the top finishers receive scholarships redeemable in their freshman year of college, with more than 175,000 contestants benefiting to date. In addition to contests, the foundation offers online coaching in Math, Science, Geography, SAT/ACT, Computer Programming, Life Skills and Universal Values, supported by more than 260 volunteer coaches and thousands of enrollments in a year. The organization expands its reach with pilot educational contests in India and, in May 2025, participated in the National Finals Event and provided dictionaries at the event.
