The North Tahoe Public Utility District is a local government entity established in 1948 to provide sewer services for residents along the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Its service area extends from the Nevada border in Crystal Bay to Dollar Hill, including Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Brockway Vista, Carnelian Bay, Cedar Flat, and Agate Bay. The district is based in Tahoe Vista, California. Over time, it expanded to include water services in 1967 and created a Recreation and Parks Department in 1968, while also overseeing most public beaches, the North Tahoe Regional Park, and owning the North Tahoe Event Center. The district operates a network that currently serves 5,524 sewer connections and 3,828 metered water connections, reflecting its role in essential local infrastructure and community amenities. In June 2026, NTPUD announced a Call to Artists for a permanent public art installation at the North Tahoe Regional Park, in collaboration with the North Tahoe Community Alliance, the Tahoe Fund, North Tahoe Arts, and the Arts Council of Placer County.
