NOFA-VT is a mid-sized nonprofit that unites farmers, gardeners, and consumers to strengthen Vermont's food system along the dimensions of economic viability, ecological stewardship, and social equity. Based in Richmond, Vermont, the organization operates within the farming sector and supports organic agriculture through education, programs, and partnerships. Its activities encompass soil health initiatives, policy engagement, and efforts to expand access to locally produced, sustainable food. In 2026 it launched an adaptation planning program for farmers in southwest Vermont to help communities prepare for climate-related and economic pressures. NOFA-VT administers the Senior Farm Share Program in partnership with state agencies to help limited-income seniors obtain fresh produce, and it participates in policy discussions and coalitions focused on food security, including participation in the Anti-Hunger Policy Conference with Vermont partners. More recently it launched the Southwest Farmer Resilience Project to support farmers in southern Vermont facing climate variability and economic pressures, while continuing soil health initiatives and educational programs for the organic farming community.
