Novus Energy is a Minnesota company on a mission to alter the competitive landscape of renewable fuels production. By combining a disruptive biochemical technology with advanced process engineering, Novus has created a means to dramatically enhance the value of traditional bio-digestion. The result has been a sustainable and economically viable process that is vastly more efficient than conventional waste to energy methods, is price competitive with fossil fuels and can be adapted to a wide range of sizes and feedstock applications at a low cost of capital. More than ten years of research, testing and refinement, coupled with decades of digestion experience, have yielded the patented Novus Bio-Catalytic (NBC™) system that lies at the heart of Novus’ technology platform. The NBC™ system converts non-food organic waste feedstocks of almost any form into clean biogas at nearly double the efficiency of traditional methods, and in a small fraction of the time, by optimizing conditions within each step of the anaerobic digestion process. This innovative engineering approach results in a comparative energy yield of roughly four times that of traditional anaerobic digestion methods while diverting wastes from landfills, solving critical waste problems. In addition, the nutrient recovery stage of the NBC™ process produces a valuable liquid organic fertilizer. The Novus organic fertilizer has higher concentrations of nitrogen than traditional organic fertilizers and is in liquid form so it can be applied during the growing season through existing irrigation infrastructures. Novus Energy has completed the studies, planning, design and permitting applications necessary to construct a 1.3mm SCF per day Renewable Natural Gas facility at the Port of Morrow in Oregon called Novus Pacific.
