OGERO is a state-founded telecommunications operator in Lebanon, created in 1972 to continue the work of the former Radio Orient. It serves as the main operator of the fixed telecommunications network and functions as the backbone for the Ministry of Telecommunications, coordinating and maintaining the country's fixed infrastructure. The organization supports a broad ecosystem by delivering fixed-network services that connect mobile operators, data service providers, and internet service providers, and it operates a nationwide network of sales offices along with a sizable call center, with services increasingly based on fiber connectivity. Based in Bir Hassan, Mount Lebanon, OGERO participates in international and regional forums through membership in bodies such as ITU, IMEWE, GSM Association, and Arab IGF. It is positioned as a central, government-aligned infrastructure provider within Lebanon's telecom landscape and has indicated plans to shift from standalone connectivity to converged voice and data offerings, potentially serving as the core operator for Liban Telecom as the market evolves.
