In 2007, Old North Utility Services, Inc. (ONUS) was awarded a 50-year contract to operate, maintain, repair, upgrade, and improve the water and wastewater utility systems at Fort Bragg, Pope Army Airfield, Simmons Army Airfield, and Camp Mackall. Fort Bragg is the home of the Army’s airborne (including the famed 82nd Airborne Division) and special operations forces, while Pope Army Airfield is the home of the 43rd Airlift Group and the 18th Air Support Operations Group.
The company began fulfilling its 50-year contract in early 2008. Today, as the largest ASUS subsidiary with the greatest amount of equipment under its care, ONUS operates and maintains more than two million linear feet of water distribution pipe and seven storage tanks holding nearly four million gallons of water. ONUS also operates and maintains wastewater systems that include 1.6 million linear feet of sewer pipe and 171 lift stations.
With a deep commitment to customer care, ONUS diligently works to protect every drop of water from source to tap, along with maintaining the Fort Bragg wastewater system. As a utility provider, ONUS regularly analyzes its water and wastewater systems to determine what areas need repair, replacement, or new facilities. In addition, ONUS puts a strong focus on water efficiency, with ongoing outreach that helps customers learn how to better manage their water use.
ONUS is honored to provide services that support the roles these military installations play in defending the country and supporting military operations overseas and the 140,000 military, civilian, and family members who live and work at Fort Bragg, Pope Army Airfield, Simmons Army Airfield, and Camp Mackall.
