ONERA, The French Aerospace Lab, is a public research center focused on aeronautical and space science. Based in Palaiseau, Île-de-France, it operates under the supervision of the Ministry of the Armed Forces and coordinates a broad spectrum of disciplines critical to civil and military aerospace programs.
Its work supports major French and European programs across aircraft, missiles, engines and radars, and it contributes to the competitiveness of the aerospace industry. Its researchers collaborate with industry, government, and academia, and train many doctoral students. In December 2025, ONERA announced a collaboration with NASA and the National Research Council of Canada to conduct wind tunnel tests as part of the SUNSET 3 project.
